Lead with Levity

Ep. 48 How to look like a million bucks on Zoom

Do you remember (back in the day), when people were obligated to let you know if your hair was out of place, or your fly was down, or you were being stalked through the halls by a toilet paper roll? Do you remember getting upset if you made it through the whole day with something on your [insert object or body part] all day without so much as a peep from your colleagues?  I do!

Unfortunately, people are less likely to let you know about an online faux pas. The odds are higher that someone will take a screenshot and share it with their friends than the odds of them quietly IM’ing you to ask you to adjust yourself.

I chat with today’s guest, Kim Foley, about the ways that we trip ourselves up online and how to avoid looking foolish on camera even if you may look a little bit silly off-camera!

In this episode, we cover:

  • Kim’s cringeworthy cat video that led her to learn how to master Zoom meetings
  • How to setup your desk for maximum poise and presence
  • Do’s and don’ts for your online wardrobe
  • Pro tips to boost your wifi and internet connection
  • Kim’s virtual meeting etiquette guide

  1. I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and was wondering what
all is required to get setup?
I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny?

I’m not very web savvy so I’m not 100% sure.

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    1. Hi Philip, thanks for your question. You will need to decide if you want to DIY it or pay for someone to make the site for you. Either way, you should be prepared to put in the time and effort. You can get some bids from web developers for a simple site or check out YouTube tutorials. Feel free to connect with Dr. Walker on LinkedIn if you want to chat more about the details.
